Ariel is an extremely dedicated student and holds the honor of top student in his class, but at the same time he never loses his sense of humor. He is also passionate about his English studies and in his free time reads books and watches movies to hone his skills. He says that his goals are to be a good professional in his job, to help his family and to improve his community’s situation by helping the people. To help his community he would like to change the practices of the government and get rid of corruption. He would also like to improve the political system because citizens are worried about the situation and they are hoping for change. He is studying International Relations with the hope of working with some international agencies in order to improve Paraguayan Public Relations.
Hi, my name is Bernardo Yegros, I am 17 years old and I live in Tobatí, Cordillera – Paraguay. I am a student at Instituto Cultural Reinaldo Macchi where I am in my last year of high school. In my free time I love to play the guitar, sing songs, or go out to visit friends or help them with what I can.
My Dad is a milk man and my mom works in the household. There are seven people who live at home with us, however I am one of 12 siblings in total. Some of my siblings work but only one of my siblings helps the family financially.
I love going to church and being a member of the youth group that, through its activities, helps that institution. When I finish my studies I would love to be a Psychologist.
My name is Romina Elizabeth Ortega Diaz, I am 17 years old and I live in Tobatí, Cordillera – Paraguay with my parents and my younger brother. I’m in my final year of school and am already thinking of the new phase in my life: University.
I have many goals for this coming year but my main goal is to start a career, I would like to study to become an Anesthesiologist. However, before that can happen I would like to be an airplane stewardess to save money and cover the costs of my future career because my family doesn’t have enough income to help me.
My parents have a small business, selling food “to-go” which allows just enough to support my family. Your help would be a huge gift for me and it would provide a huge relief. My studies assure that I will be able to help my family and society.
Hi, my name is Mónica Noguera, I am 17 years old and I live in the city of Tobatí, Cordillera, Paraguay. I’m currently in my final year of high school at Instituto Cultural Reinaldo Macchi. The Institute deserves recognition, thanks to it I have perfected my ability to understand and learn many things. I have put a lot of effort and forced myself to continue being an outstanding student, and it is with the constant support of my friends and family that I have been able to bear it. To attend the Institute, I must walk 1 km to reach the main road so that I can take a bus that drops me off in front of the road to the Institute. From there I walk another 1 km to get to the Institute. To do all that I must get up early and eat a good breakfast so that I have enough energy during the day.
It has been a big sacrifice for my family to allow me to attend the Institute. I come from a family with limited resources and several times during my time here, it has been difficult to allow me to continue studying. My mother is a housewife and my father is a mason and with my father’s salary we are only able to secure the essentials. In total, my family has six brothers and sisters. I have two older sisters who live and work on their own with their children, and my brothers continue with their studies.
Previously I was very interested in studying for a career in agricultural engineering, however today I believe that it is less likely that I will pursue that path.
I live in Tobatí with my mom, dad, and three siblings – two older brothers and a younger sister. In school I like Phys. Ed, English and History class. Someday, I hope to finally achieve my goals of being an English and Phys. Ed teacher as well as graduating as one of the best students in my class. So that I am able to realize my dream, I am going to study a lot and continue studying so that I can be a successful person and so that I am able to help my family and my community.

I am 18 years old and I am from Rosado, a village outside the town Tobatí. When I am in Rosado, I live with my four siblings and my parents. I am the oldest of all the children. Last year I graduate from Instituto Cultural Reinaldo Macchi and I am now attending the Joseph Coiffure Hair Styling Academy in Asunción. When I am not studying or attending classes I am working and living in Asunción as a nanny. On the weekends I return to Rosado to spend time with my family and I often work with my father in the artisan shop to help him support our family. This past February I began studying at the Academy. It is my goal that within two years I will have my professional certificate and be able to begin working and earning a salary. While I love what I am doing, in the future I hope to use the money I will make to return to school and study to be an Orthodontist.
My time at the Institute taught me that nothing important comes easily and you must fight for what you want. Every day I remind myself of that and it gives me the strength to continue.
