Day 6: Daryl Poon, Co-President of the Penn Social Entrepreneurship Movement (PennSEM)

Daryl Poon is the Co-President of the Penn Social Entrepreneurship Movement (PennSEM) at the University of Pennsylvania. PennSEM is a student movement that seeks to grow the concept of social entrepreneurship on campus through the provision of a full spectrum of opportunities for students to engage in and learn about social entrepreneurship. The 3-year old organization has expanded rapidly since its founding in 2008 to now offer a broad suite of programs including Academic Workshops, a Speaker Series, a Spring Break Social Entrepreneurship Trip, a Research Think Tank, a Summer Internship Program, as well as a Fellows Program.

Daryl is a Junior at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a dual degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics in the College, and Finance at Wharton. He was born and raised in Singapore, and is passionate about all things related to Public Policy, International Development, Youth Engagement, and Poverty Reduction. Outside of PennSEM, he is also a Consultant with the Wharton Small Business Development Center focusing on the Clean Technology space, and is also actively involved with the Executive Board of Club Singapore in building a home away from home for the Singaporean community at Penn.
