The EfforTZ Foundation is a small charity working to improve the quality of education in Tanzania. By providing money for scholarships and school supplies, EfforTZ strives to improve the overall learning environment for impoverished, abandoned, and orphaned children. Since 2011, EfforTZ has been helping support hundreds of students attending four different primary schools in Arusha, Tanzania. Currently, [url=http://givology.com/~effortz/]EfforTZ[/url] is working on a [url=http://givology.com/~sfnstudents/]project[/url] to transport school supplies to students at the Naura Primary School.
[b]What is this project about?[/b]
Naura Primary School receives little financial support from the Tanzanian government. Many people in the community survive on less than $2 a day. Families of Naura students usually lack the means to pay for school materials - such as textbooks, uniforms, writing utensils, and other supplies. With the help of over 130 supporters and volunteers, EfforTZ has already collected the necessary school supplies for 473 schoolchildren; however, the cost of transporting those supplies is approximately $1.27 cents per child. EfforTZ is seeking $500 more to bring the donated school materials to Naura students.
[b]What is unique about this project?[/b]
Over the past 10 years, primary school enrollment in Tanzania has been gradually increasing. However, secondary school participation remains stagnant. Dr. Kitila Mkumbo, who teaches in the Department of Education, Psychology, and Curriculum Studies at the University of Dar es Salaam, cited the lack of school materials as a possible explanation for the decreasing number of Tanzanian children passing examinations for secondary school admission. EfforTZ's project would not only improve the quality of education at the Naura Primary School but also help increase secondary school enrollment in the surrounding community.
[b]What will be the community impact of this project?[/b]
In 2012, EfforTZ provided 2720 lbs. of school supplies to four primary schools. Those schools experienced a 4% increase in the number of students advancing to secondary school - an incredible contrast to the 18% average nationwide decrease. With your donations and support, EfforTZ could truly make a difference in the Arusha community!
