The Umbrella Foundation was founded in 2005 in a response to the children trafficking and illegal orphanages in Nepal. The NGO’s aim is to rescue these children from trafficking and those in situations that are susceptible to such, and in integrate them back into their families and their community, whilst giving them an education to help them and their families get back on their feet. Their latest project, Shoes for School, needs just $525 more to purchase the shoes they need to give children schools shoes for the start of the Nepali school year in April.
WHAT IS THE PROJECT ABOUT?
In many impoverished areas, schools can be far from where these children live and the long distances further discourages families from sending their children to school and makes the viability for an education even lower. In Nepal the terrain is usually mountainous, and so it is important the children can walk to school comfortably, particularly in adverse weather conditions.
