Benjamin was born in 1996 in Mang'ola, Tanzania. Benjamin came to live at RVCV in May of 2004 after the loss of his parents.

Update: Today, he is enjoying college where he is studying business administration near the town of Mwanza! Going to a school far away from home where none of his brothers or sisters are studying was a big step for him. With Benja's sparkling personality and wit, he has made many friends and adjusted quickly. In his spare time, he enjoys swimming, playing soccer and listening to music. After he completes his diploma in business he hopes to work for a company while he starts his own business.

  • Future Plans for an Amazing Student Teacher!

Benja is 19 years old and is the shining star of our Student Teacher program. He takes his role seriously, is fantastic with the children and does an amazing job. In May he will apply to A level schooling, which is the University track or a two year business school.
  • New Student Teacher!

Benja is taking some time before Form 5 to be a Student Teacher. A respectful move involving lots of hard work! Your job as a student teacher is never done. You wake up with the kids before 6 in the morning and walk them home from the school at 4:30 in the afternoon. Even after that, you live with the kids and help maintain order in the houses. Benja has taken to his role as student teacher very well. He gets along with the kids, teachers, and other student teachers. It is hard to not get along with Benja, and some real-life, work experience is beneficial at any age, especially Benjas.

After sitting the exam, he will have a long 6-8 month wait until his results come back. In the mean time, we will keep him busy helping at RVCV, studying English and also attending a computer course!
