Profile

eStudio 473 is a community art space located in El Buen Pastor, an internado for girls living in the city and surrounding communities of Guanajuato, Gto Mexico. We are dedicated to the development of a space that encourages creative exploration, and the development of community. Through workshops offered to the public as well as events and presentations, we provide after school programming that includes visual and performing arts, movement and literacy development for the girls of the Buen Pastor.

The girls range from age 4 to age 16 and are divided into four classes that consist of between 6-12 students. Each group is guided by two lead Artists through a series of art projects that look to develop imagination and creativity, demand cooperation and problem solving, as well encourage a love of reading and writing.

TAN: Taller de Arte para NiƱos

In addition to the workshops provided to the girls of the Buen Pastor, eStudio 473 is proud to welcome Paola Huitron and T.A.N. an ecclectic blend of painting, drawing, sculpture and craft for children ages 4-up. Every Friday evening the studio will feature TAN. For each enrollment a small donation will be made to purchase materials needed to continue the workshops for the Buen Pastor.

eStudio 473 was founded in January 2009 by Photographer and Educator, Katie Clancy. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Clancy studied Art Education and Photography and spent several years working in both fields. After teaching and learning for three years at the Soulard School, a progressive, qualitative research based private school in the City of St. Louis she decided to relocate to Guanajuato in September of 2009. With the goal of focusing more on creating photo projects and artwork of her own and learning the language and culture, she quickly was introduced to Buen Pastor and was inspired to return to her role as an educator by creating an art program with the girls. She now continues this love of community-based learning through art in various projects that are taken place throughout several neighborhoods in the city of Guanajuato.
