Lydia, is the youngest of 4 children and from the large village of Dedza. Her father supported her family and even purchased the home in which they currently live. He passed away when Lydia was young, now her mother sells rice in order to make money for the family. When Lydia was accepted into St. Michael’s, a national-level well respected secondary school, the family made many sacrifices to pay her school fees. This included selling the home her father had purchased for them before he passed away. Lydia is currently in her fourth year and is expected to do well on her leaving examination. She would like to go to University and become a nutritionist.
