Sherine comes from a poor family of high values. Her father works as a construction worker and also does other odd jobs to supplement the family income and support his wife and three daughters. The eldest of the three daughters has joined a convent aspiring to be a Nun.
Sherine is an intelligent student and consistently gets good grades in school. She wishes to continue and finish her schooling. However, her father has found it very difficult to fund her schooling even though he believes it is more than worth it to educate his daughter. For a girl in India, it is frequently difficult to finish one's education.
