"When John pokes his head around the corner or taps you on the shoulder these days, chances are the next words you will hear from him mouth are “Auntie, may I borrow your Ipod?” And the next request will be, “Can you find The Lion King song for me please?” In addition to a newfound affinity for Disney songs, John loves to work out with staff and volunteers; he is always the first to join in on a run around the compound or in a set of push-ups on the back lawn. John becomes more affectionate with every passing week, and he loves to spend time with volunteers."
We recently received an update from Serah and Flying Kites. Please continue to message back to show your continued support!
"Serah is notorious for quietly sneaking up alongside staff and volunteers and slipping her hand inside theirs but Serah’s quiet demeanor disappears when playing her favorite game, Zingo (bingo with a zing.) Serah has consistently climbed the ranks in her class, now threatening the standing of a few of our boys; something we are very proud to see. Healthy competition is something we are always looking to encourage."

"Ruth has really grown into her role as one of the oldest children at Flying Kites. She has taken to mothering the younger children so frequently that she has been given the nickname “Mamma Kadogo” which translates to “Little Momma.” Ruth is also incredibly industrious and loves helping the matrons clean the house. Ruth’s English skills have improved enormously over the last five months, and her desire to learn grows brighter with each day."

"Rahab is the queen of sass. She is consistently first in her class, loves being read to at night, and often helps other children with their homework. Of late, she has been particularly proud of her brother Moses who has played a pivotal role in taking care of our new baby rabbits. Moses and Rahab have grown closer with age; lately it has been a common sight to see their arms draped around one another, enjoying the other’s company frequently."

"Benson continues to treat all visitors like jungle gym equipment and of late, he has taken to inventing new languages and impersonating animals. Everyday he seems to grow less and less shy, and unveils more of his acting abilities. Benson’s curiosity is such that when he focuses in on something that intrigues him, the rest of the world completely disappears."

"Alex is a real boys’ boy. Getting him out of his sports shoes can be a challenge (even for church on Sunday) and his thirst for football is unquenchable. Alex loves wearing blazers, often paired with sports shorts and shoes, but we love his unique sense of style!"
